FACTS
  • High-risk drinking among students is the number one problem among colleges and universities in America.

  • High-risk drinking, best typified by "binge" drinking, creates a variety of harms for students, campus communities, and campus facilities.

  • High-risk drinking has an impact on academic achievement and student retention. Even the students who don’t drink are affected, such as when their sleep and study are interrupted by the drinking behaviors of other students.
   
JOIN THE NCC

The NCC began with the publicly supported Institutions of Higher Education. Today it is open to all IHE in Nebraska. The only criterion for membership is the written commitment of the top administrator to support his/her personnel in efforts to reduce high-risk drinking among the institution’s students.

NCC MISSION

The Nebraska Collegiate Consortium To Reduce High-Risk Drinking provides support for campuses across Nebraska who are committed to reducing high-risk drinking.

NCC GOALS
  • Assist member colleges, in cooperation with their local community coalitions, to develop and implement comprehensive environmental strategic plans to reduce high-risk drinking among students

  • Coordinate skill-building opportunities for higher education officials and community coalition members responsible for reducing student binge-drinking

  • Facilitate a dialogue among Nebraska colleges to share expertise, experiences, and opportunities to support the reduction of high-risk drinking on campuses

  • Coordinate initiatives seeking support for higher education programs to reduce high-risk drinking

  • Maintain contact with national organizations and resources to support Nebraska’s efforts to reduce high-risk student drinking

  • Coordinate the development of state-specific tools and techniques to reduce high-risk drinking

  • Coordinate and provide technical assistance to Nebraska Collegiate Consortium members
